Rajasthan Inc joins hands with EC to woo voters

JAIPUR: The real estate developers and industrialists have joined hands with the Election Commission (EC) to increase voter turnout in the forthcoming Lok Sabha Election. They will display messages urging voters to cast their ballot in their promotional and advertising material.
Ashok Jain, chief electoral officer (CEO), Rajasthan had sought help from the corporate houses in raising awareness for voting. During the meeting with developers and industrialists, Jain asserted that record turnout in the assembly polls was a combined effort of EC and other stakeholders.
"We are targeting for record turnout of voters in coming General election. To increase the voting percentage, it is necessary that youngsters, women and urban voters turn up at polling booths and exercise their right. In our attempts, it is needed that joint efforts are being made from industries and real estate developers," said Jain.
All the representatives of the industries and builders agreed to use slogans of Election Commission and encourage employees and their families to vote. Federation of Rajasthan Trade and Industry (FORTI) in the meeting assured officials of EC that their organization will use e-mails, mobile messages, letters and other communication methods to encourage its members, traders and industrialists to use their voting rights.
"We have asked all our branch offices to appoint a nodal officer for the purpose and convene workshops and seminars to educate and encourage the voters," said Suresh Agarwal, president, FORTI.
